Clare Hare has an MBA and is the principal partner in her current clothing business focusing on women's golfwear. Clare Hare sells exclusively to high-end golf club pro shops in Fairfield and Westchester counties, resort areas such as: Nantucket and Palm Beach and includes the following clubs: Winged Foot, Shinnecock Hills, the Maidstone Club and the Round Hill Club. In New York City in 2004, Noha Waibsnaider founded Peeled Snacks when she noticed something missing from the world of snack foods. Store shelves were full of processed potato chips, corn syrup-filled candy, and energy bars made with too many mysterious ingredients. But you couldn't get anything healthy and tasty that made you feel good about snacking. So she set about to fix that problem.
Her solution? Three tasty and nourishing varieties of fruit & nut mixes that became Peeled Snacks. Peeled Snacks are made with ingredients that you recognize. Large, easy-to-eat pieces of fruit and nuts provide a natural source of vitamins, minerals and fiber - with NO added sugar or fat. The nuts are dry roasted and lightly salted. And for the chocolate lovers, we use the finest rich dark chocolate with 61% cacao in our Shock-olate variety. At Peeled Snacks we know that food starts out delicious and nutritious, and it doesn't need some machine to improve it, or engineering to perfect it. We bring you food that's as close to its natural state as possible. So make snacking a satisfying part of your lifestyle by eating food as it was meant to be: peeled. p h o o t l e r y pays homage to my family, friends, strangers, studies, travels and work experience that collectively inspired this celebration of engineered designs.
p h o o t l e r y is a luxury line of interchangeable uppers that attach to a sole to create a sandal. What makes this "patented" sandal design unique and practical are the way the uppers are crafted as jewelry pieces and the easy way they are attached to a sole, creating a completely different sandal every time.
The jewelry is made from all types of materials such as metal, precious stones, fibers, leather, plastics and fabric thus allowing one shoe many looks. The ergonomically designed sole of the sandal acts as the foundation and can be purchased either as a flat, wedge and currently being developed in a heel.
The sole is the foundation and the jewelry or uppers are simply attached to a fastener which is hidden between the sole and the mid-sole. The sole was designed with an orthopedic to ensure comfort, which is a top priority. The fastener which is made from elastic and forms a loop is where the jewelry or uppers are attached. The different interchangeable upper designs are unique and therefore one shoe can be coordinated with different outfits and be dressed up or down depending on what upper you chose to use.
When my sister Helena and I started Casauri in 1999, it was still a class project I was working on while at Columbia Business School. At the time, there was a dearth of expressive cases for technology gear, until Helena, a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, made me a bag that started to attract attention. Casauri is the premier designer of stylish and colorful cases for laptops and travel accessories (www.casauri.com). Casauri also does customized products for corporate clients. Our goal is to make our customers happy by designing products that make their lives more simple and fun. Casauri has received international recognition in magazines from Vogue to Travel+Leisure and was the first laptop case sold at the MoMA Design Store in New York. Casauri is also available across the US and internationally (including Australia, Brazil, France, Japan, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Canada). For a list of select stores, visit us at www.casauri.com. The majority of emails we receive from our customers have one word in common – LOVE. People express their love for their Casauri bag and their glee to finally have a laptop bag that is reflective of their individual style. We love you too!! We are often asked about the origin of the Casauri name. We took the “ca-” from the French “caméléon” and the “-sauri” from the reptile family Sauria – this reflects our capacity to change, evolve, and grow. The ball logo, akin to a beach ball, represents the coiled tail of the chameleon, suggestive of cohesion in the midst of change. Dr. Laura Trice, the CEO of Laura’s Wholesome Junk Food based in Venice, California, started baking cookies at a very young age at her Grandmother’s farm in Massachusetts. Laura received her B.A. from Smith College with a double major in Chemistry and French Language & Literature. She received her M.D. from the University of Vermont’s College of Medicine. As a medical student, Laura, who was training at Maine Medical Center in her home town of Portland, Maine, was mentored by Christiane Northrup, M.D., author of Women’s Body’s, Women’s Wisdom. She trained at the Poland Spring Health Institute, assisting in Primary Care, and at Healthy Mother Healthy Baby Midwifery clinic in Nyuh Kuhning, Bali. Dr. Laura also trained in Chicago and up-state New York and received honors in Psychiatry, Endocrinology, Family Practice, Community Medicine and Medical Education. Like every other college student, she loved “junk food.” As a result of coming from a nutritionally conscientious home and having traveled around the world, she tried a variety of diets available looking for what provided her body with the best fuel and used interesting flavors she had tasted while abroad. While in medical school, she saw how people suffered due to illnesses that could have been prevented with better nutrition. Dr. Laura realized that she was just like her patients in that she only ate the food that tasted great to her. She realized that most cookies available seemed to be either good for you (but not taste very good) or they tasted great (but were based in white flour, white sugar and hydrogenated oils). She began creating recipes that tasted as good or better than any treats out there, but used whole grains and whole sweeteners. In 1997, while working on the set of 7th Heaven, Dr. Laura would bring cookies to the set from time to time. Acting as Set Medic, she noticed that when people ate donuts for breakfast, lots of people came to her with headaches several hours later. This did not seem to happen when they ate other foods, including her treats. One day, she noticed that some of the truck drivers on the set were actually eating her cookies for breakfast instead of donuts! This is when she realized that the regular person thought her cookies tasted great! And, that by making something that tasted great and was also good for people, people would make better choices, be able to prevent certain health issues in the future, AND feel better along the way. This passion for healthy and great tasting food led to Laura’s Wholesome Junk Food, est. 2001. Her sister, Stefanie, reminded her about the photo of Laura baking and her other sister, Elizabeth, designed the logo and the company was born. As the lead formulator of Laura’s Wholesome Junk Food, Dr. Laura is committed to creating flavorful and satisfying food that she is comfortable eating herself and sharing with friends and family while maintaining very high quality standards in every batch.
